Privacy and cookie policy
Last updated 18 Jun 2026
Pit Lane Data is an independent Formula 1 statistics site. It needs no account, takes no payment and collects no personal data beyond what this page describes. Analytics run only if you allow them, and you can change your mind at any time.
Who we are
Pit Lane Data publishes Formula 1 results, lap data, standings and a data-derived odds model, built from public timing data. It is an independent project and is not affiliated with Formula 1, the FIA, any team or any bookmaker.
Essential storage
Two small values are stored on your device for the site to work as you expect. A theme preference in your browser's local storage remembers whether you chose light or dark mode. A consent cookie remembers your cookie choice so we do not ask again on every visit; it lasts up to twelve months. Both stay on your device, are never used to track you, and carry no personal data. Under UK PECR these are strictly necessary and need no consent.
Analytics, only with your consent
If you accept analytics cookies, we use two services to understand how the site is used. Nothing below loads until you agree, and you can withdraw consent at any time from the cookie settings.
- Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, for aggregate page-view and traffic statistics. It sets the usual
_gacookies and retains data for up to 26 months. - Microsoft Clarity, for anonymised session replays and heatmaps that show how pages are used, so the layout can be improved. It sets a
_claritycookie and retains data for up to 13 months.
We do not use this data for advertising. The Google advertising signals
(ad_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization)
are kept denied at all times.
Consent mode
The site uses Google Consent Mode. Before you choose, tags load in a cookieless, consent-pending state: no analytics cookies are set and no personal data is sent. Only after you accept does Google Analytics begin collecting and setting cookies. If you decline, the consent signals stay denied and no analytics cookies are stored.
Microsoft Clarity
Clarity records how you move through a page, including scrolls and clicks, to show where the layout helps or gets in the way. It does not receive information that identifies you, and it runs only after you accept analytics. See Microsoft's privacy statement for more.
Hosting and server logs
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes the standard technical information your browser sends with each request, such as your IP address and user agent, to deliver pages and protect against abuse. That processing is covered by Cloudflare's own privacy terms. We do not combine it with anything else or use it to identify you.
Content from other sources
Some pages load media directly from Formula 1's services. Team-radio clips on session pages, for example, stream from F1's servers when you press play, so your browser contacts those servers at that point. The underlying timing and results data comes from public Formula 1 sources. We do not control the privacy practices of those third parties.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 you can withdraw consent at any time, ask for access to any personal data held about you, ask for it to be erased, and complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. Because the site collects only anonymous analytics, and only with consent, there is usually no personal data to act on. Clearing your browser cookies removes everything stored locally.
Children
The site is general-audience and does not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
