Pole had gone to George Russell, but the second Mercedes never converted it. Russell retired, and so did Lando Norris, two of the cars expected to fight at the front. Their exits handed Hamilton second and lifted Max Verstappen onto the podium in third.

Ferrari took some comfort from fourth. Charles Leclerc brought his car home behind Verstappen, a solid haul that now reads as the high point before a rough sequence of weekends. Isack Hadjar backed up his recent form with fifth for Red Bull.
The lap-time chart shows Antonelli edging clear in the middle stint while Hamilton held station behind.
Lance Stroll was the biggest mover, climbing seven places through the field. Pierre Gasly recorded the top speed at 348 km/h, a reminder of how much of the Montreal lap rewards a strong engine and a long run to the chicane.
Three wins from four races had Antonelli firmly in control of the championship by this point. The lap-by-lap replay and full classification sit on the Canadian race page.
