Lewis Hamilton won the 2026 Barcelona Grand Prix from second on the grid, taking his Ferrari past pole-sitter George Russell and pulling clear by almost twenty seconds. It was a controlled drive on a day when staying out of trouble counted for as much as raw pace.

Russell led from pole but could not answer Hamilton once the Ferrari found clean air. Hamilton set the fastest lap of the race, a 1:20.122 on lap 44, and crossed the line 19.561 seconds ahead. Lando Norris completed the podium for McLaren, with Max Verstappen fourth and Oscar Piastri fifth.

Attrition decided the rest. Seven cars failed to finish, among them championship leader Kimi Antonelli and Charles Leclerc, and a red flag broke the race into two phases. Drivers who kept their cars clean were rewarded, and several climbed the order without ever fighting for a place on track.
The lap-time traces show how Hamilton managed his pace once clear, lifting in the closing laps as the gap held.
Pierre Gasly made the most of the chaos, gaining seven positions to finish seventh, the biggest move of the afternoon. Isack Hadjar recorded the highest speed-trap reading at 354 km/h.
Antonelli’s retirement matters most for the championship. The Mercedes driver had built his lead on a run of wins, and a first non-finish lets Hamilton and Russell claw points back. The full timing, lap chart and tyre strategy are on the Barcelona race page.
